Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the incredible Apollo 11 moon landing provides the inspiration for the second performance of the 2019 Summer Concert Series by the Manchester Community Band. The mystery and intrigue of flight has always been a source of inspiration for adventurers, inventors, artists and composers. The concert will feature music from television, cinema, and the concert hall that captures the wonder and awe we all experience. It is among our most familiar and popular of all time, and includes music from “2001, A Space Odyssey”, “Star Wars”, “Star Trek”, “Apollo 13” (starring Tom Hanks), as well as “The Planets”, by Gustav Holst. Even pop musicians have contributed songs like “The Final Countdown”, that express our fascination with space!
The concert is located at the Manchester Park Amphitheater and begins at 6:30 pm. This event is free and open to the public.
