Ash Trees
As you may be aware, the emerald ash borer insect (EAB) is now in the St. Louis metropolitan area. This exotic, invasive, woodboring insect infests and kills native North American ash tree species, both in forests and landscapes. Once EAB has infested and area, there is a high percentage of ash tree deaths. The wood of ash trees killed by this borer becomes brittle and highly susceptible to breaking off, posing a serious threat to property and public safety. Any Ash tree that is not properly treated should proactively be removed to avoid hazardous dead standing trees. Below are Emerald Ash Borer resources.

Any tree or other vegetation planted within the right-of-way of City streets is the responsibility of the adjoining property owner to maintain. As a service for residents/property owners with an ash tree planted in the right-of-way, the City participated collectively with three other St. Louis County municipalities in seeking pricing for ash tree and stump removals as well as for ash tree insecticide treatments for healthy trees that the property owner wishes to save. Below are the local professional tree companies that will give the contract pricing for ash trees in the street right-of-way.
Ash Tree and Stump Removal - Omni Tree Service, Inc: (636) 391-9944 or omnitreeservice.com
Ash Tree Insecticide Treatment - Timberline Professional Tree Care, LLC: (636) 209-8139 or ben@stltreecare.com
It is not required that you use the above companies for the removal or the treatment of your ash tree in the street right-of-way. However, it is highly suggested that you use an experienced and insured ISA Certified Arborist. Below is a link to find other ISA Certified Arborist in the area.
